This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
First up, we have some exciting changes coming to =Writers-Slam! We've partnered with =PoetryPlease and *ProsePlease in order to keep the Podcast going. This does mean some changes in the way that we will be doing things. First up, we will no longer be accepting open submissions. Luckily! It's quite easy to become a member of either of these wonderful clubs.
Second, we will be holding auditions for readers from this point on. We are hoping that this step will help drive home the seriousness with which we take the podcast. Of course, some of our readers will not need to re-audition, but if you do not receive a note from us in the next few days and you've read for us before, please shoot us a note and we'll touch base. Please see the section below for more information.
Reader Audutions
First up, a few comments. We are looking for dedicated, well spoken readers. If you feel that you will not be able to fulfill your duties as a reader, we ask that you let us know ahead of time. We will, of course, make exceptions for extenuating circumstances. However, should there be two shows in a row where we are not informed that you will be unable to read for us until after you have recieved your assignment, you will be removed as a reader.
That being said, here are some things we are looking for in our readers.
Dedication. We expect our readers to take the show as seriously as we do. A pleasant reading voice. The entire point of this project is to showcase literature in a pleasant way. A quiet recording atmosphere. We understand how difficult it can be to find a quiet moment to record, but we feel that this is important. We ask that your recordings be as free of background noise as possible. A decent recording device. Again, we understand how difficult this can be, but again, it is important that we have high quality recordings for the shows. We ask that your recordings be free of hisses, pops and other distracting white noise. We also ask that your recordings be audible.
To Audition:
Record one prose piece, your choice. Record one poetry piece, your choice. Record one non-fiction piece such as an essay, your choice.
Send all three files to writers.slam@gmail.com and include the following information:
Your deviantART User Name Your recording preferences. Your availability to record.
Well, what if you don't want to become a reader, but want to read your own piece?
My only problem is that if I submitted a work, someone else might not be able to read it aloud correctly. Writers are sensitive about that, I have a specific sound for my poems in mind, a specific tone to go with each word, each line break, etc. The biggest issue that I have, and I'm sure many others have, is that can your 'readers' do our writing justice?
Honestly I would much rather be able to read my own piece then to let anyone else do so.
^__^;;; I hope that didn't sound rude, but that was just my honest opinion.
